Interim Financial Consultant

We are looking for a technically capable Financial Consultant to provide additional support to an established finance team within a fast-growing, innovative business based in Cambridge.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience as a Financial Accountant, Management Accountant, Finance Manager, Financial Controller, or similar, with a strong technical accounting background and a genuine interest in using technology to improve financial processes, reporting and decision-making.

Experience within a high-growth, technology-led, R&D, or innovation-focused environment would be highly advantageous. The successful candidate will be comfortable working in a modern finance function, picking up new systems quickly and using data and technology to improve the quality and efficiency of financial reporting.

This role would suit someone who is equally comfortable with the detail of accounting and the practical application of technology. You will support with month-end, management reporting, financial analysis, process improvement and ad-hoc finance projects, while helping the existing team make better use of systems, data and automation.

The successful candidate will be able to hit the ground running, work autonomously and quickly understand both the financial and operational requirements of the business. Strong Excel skills are essential, while experience with ERP systems, financial reporting tools, data analytics, automation or other finance technology would be highly desirable.

Key Requirements

• ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent qualified
• Previous Financial Accountant, Management Accountant, Finance Manager, Financial Controller or Financial Consultant experience
• Strong technical accounting and month-end reporting experience
• Experience within technology, R&D, professional services or another fast-growth environment desirable
• Highly proficient Excel skills and strong data-handling capability
• Tech-savvy with an interest in automation, systems and process improvement
• Experience working with ERP, finance systems or reporting tools
• Strong financial analysis and management reporting skills
• Comfortable working with large or complex datasets
• Hands-on, adaptable and able to work independently
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Able to quickly learn new systems, processes and technologies
