Interim Accountant

NXTGEN are supporting a fast-paced and innovative organisation in Cambridge with the appointment of an Interim Accountant to help cover a busy technical accounting period. This short-term assignment is expected to last 1-2 months and will support a busy finance function through a critical reporting window. As Interim Accountant, you''ll take ownership of the financial accounting process, ensuring accurate reporting across core financial statements. You''ll also play a key role in preparing RandD Tax Credit claims, working alongside both internal stakeholders and external advisors to meet submission deadlines.Key responsibilities will include:Preparation of month-end accounts, journals, and reconciliationsSupporting the financial reporting process and statutory returnsLeading on RandD Tax Credit calculations and documentationPartnering with external consultants on claim submissionsAd hoc financial support as needed across the finance teamCandidates will ideally be a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or equivalent) with strong technical accounting experience. You''ll have a hands-on approach and be comfortable working at pace, within an SME. Previous exposure to RandD Tax Credit claims would be significantly advantageous, and you''ll bring the confidence to work independently with minimal onboarding.
