Interconnect and Cable Architect

Overview

Expleo is a leading Global Engineering Services Provider with UK presence in 10 locations. We are seeking an experienced Interconnect and Cable Architect to work with our client, at Belfast. In this role the successful candidate will be expected to mentor and guide others in the design of interconnect and cabling solutions that deliver world-class performance. You will work alongside a team of multidisciplined Engineer working on cutting edge defence products. Your role will span the entire product lifecycle from design requirements capture and analysis through to defining the interconnect architecture and verifying that the solution meets the customer’s requirements. The Interconnect and Cable Architect role requires working within the Electronics team to optimise the design through trade-studies, analyses, modelling and simulation to produce best-in-class competitive products.We are looking for an energetic and driven individual with broad expertise, however of particular interest would be candidates with aerospace or military experience.This role represents a great opportunity to work with a blue-chip client, contributing to the security of the UK and our allies. The Interconnect and Cable Architect will perform, but not be limited to the following type of activities centred on the development and delivery of cutting-edge defence products:Lead the development of interconnect and cabling architecturesDesign cable assemblies based upon electrical constraints such as current, screening, signal types, volt drop, EMC, and environmental requirementsLead connector selection and manage evaluation activitiesLead the creation of cable schematics and drawingsSupport integration and testing of cable assembliesCreation of cable specifications, development and verification plansResponsible for compliance to regulatory standardsContribute to bid and estimating activitiesQualifications

Degree level qualification in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related discipline. A lower qualification would be acceptable for example HNC/HND should the candidate be able to demonstrate significant demonstrable experience in lieuEssential skills

Understanding of principles for design for LVD and EMC ComplianceHighly effective communicator within a diverse, professional environmentSelf-motivated, able to lead and take the initiativeOutstanding team working skillsExperience

Post graduate relevant work experienceExperience in the design of cables considering electrical constraints such as current, screening, signal types, volt drop, and environmental requirementsExperience of interconnect design tools such as Capital Essentials, Zuken or EPLANExperience of mentoring and coaching othersBenefits
