Intelligence Support Officer
Location: Parker Lane, Burnley
Contract: Full Time, 3-month initial contract with possible extensions
Hours: Full Time
Pay Rate: -13.84 per hour PAYE


We are recruiting for an Intelligence Support Officer to join a Divisional Intelligence Unit in Burnley. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced administrator or intelligence professional to support operational policing through the effective research, development and management of information and intelligence.
The successful candidate will help maintain an accurate and up-to-date intelligence picture, ensuring information is properly assessed, recorded and disseminated to support operational decision-making and policing activity.


Key Responsibilities

  • Provide an efficient and effective intelligence support function to the Divisional Intelligence Unit.
  • Research, develop and action information and intelligence to support operational activity and inform tasking and resources.
  • Research and interrogate computer systems and databases, ensuring information is accurately recorded and maintained.
  • Assess and evaluate information, identifying risks, relationships, patterns and trends.
  • Produce intelligence briefings and management information to support operational decision-making.
  • Receive and respond to queries and requests relating to intelligence matters, maintaining confidentiality at all times.
  • Handle restricted and confidential information appropriately and in accordance with relevant legislation and policies.
  • Attend briefings and meetings, providing intelligence-related information to support tasking and resource decisions.
  • Liaise with internal teams, other organisations and external agencies to support effective information sharing and communication.
  • Undertake open-source and digital media research where required.
  • Maintain accurate computerised records and intelligence systems.
  • Carry out administrative duties to support the effective running of the Intelligence Unit.
  • Ensure all work complies with relevant data protection, information management and intelligence standards.
  • Contribute positively to the wider team and support continuous improvement and best practice within intelligence services.

About You
We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:

  • Experience of researching and interrogating computer systems and databases.
  • Experience of digital media and open-source research.
  • Strong accuracy and attention to detail, particularly when collecting, collating and recording information.
  • Experience of evaluating and disseminating information or intelligence.
  • Knowledge of the National Intelligence Model (NIM) and the 3x5x2 intelligence grading system.
  • Experience of maintaining computerised recording systems.
  • Knowledge of operational policing and how information is used to support policing activity.
  • Experience of working in a demanding administrative environment and handling confidential information.
  • The ability to make decisions and take appropriate action.
  • Experience of working collaboratively with internal and external departments or agencies.
  • Experience of interpreting information and identifying patterns and trends.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce and present information to support management decisions.
  • Good IT skills, including Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, Teams and SharePoint.
  • Working knowledge of relevant legislation and guidance relating to data protection, disclosure of information and the Management of Police Information (MoPI).

Qualifications
An Intelligence Professionalisation Programme (IPP) qualification is desirable. Candidates without this qualification must be willing to complete the programme within 18 months.
