Hourly Rate: -18.04ph
Contract Duration: Until April 2027
Location: Devon, TQ12
This is a part-time role over 3 days (22.5 hours per week) - happy to discuss suitable days
Purpose of the Role
As an Insurance Officer, you will provide essential administrative and operational support to the Council''s insurance function, helping to ensure that insurance claims are managed efficiently and in accordance with financial regulations and best practice.
Working within the Systems & Transaction team you will provide support handling insurance claims from initial notification through to resolution. This will include liaising with internal colleagues and a range of external partners such as insurance brokers, insurers, claims handlers, solicitors and loss adjusters to progress claims effectively.
You will be responsible for maintaining and updating the insurance claims database and assisting with the development of associated systems and processes. You will also assist with the annual insurance renewal process, providing insurance-related advice where appropriate, and contributing to reports for senior officers, members and partner groups
Key Duties and Responsibilities
To support the Finance Systems & Transaction Manager in delivering the provision of an accountancy service for the authority, in particular insurance administration:
- Insurance claims handling
- Provision of insurance advice
- Maintenance of database of insurance claims
Liaise with internal clients and external contacts to progress and support insurance claims, including insurance broker, insurance provider, claims handler, appointed solicitor and loss adjuster.
Maintenance of insurance claims database and assist with the development of the system and reporting.
Assist in completion of annual insurance renewal documentation.
Contribute to reports for members, Senior Leadership Team and partner working groups to consider on issues relating to the Accountancy Team''s functions.
Make sure that Finance Team offers a customer focused service.
Support the Council''s approach to equalities and diversity ensuring that our services and policies identify, address and promote the needs of our diverse community. This includes the need for safety of children and other vulnerable people.
Take personal responsibility for the relevant aspects of the Council''s Health and Safety Policy.
Ensure awareness and compliance with the Council''s policies, Code of Conduct and Constitution.
Evaluate and assist in managing risk within the service
Qualifications
Level 3 Certificate in Insurance or equivalent
