Instrumentation & Controls Technician

A UK-based system integrator specialising in industrial control system upgrades and telemetry solutions are recruiting for an Instrumentation & Controls Technician, their core focus is the water industry, where they replace legacy systems to deliver improved reliability, safety, and performance.

About the position:
This is a varied and rewarding role that combines hands-on site work with technical office-based tasks. You’ll be responsible for the installation, investigation, and remediation of telemetry and ICA systems, as well as configuring RTUs and SCADA systems.
The role offers a mix of practical engineering and technical configuration work, with regular travel to Ireland included.
Job Responsibilities:
- Install, configure, and maintain telemetry equipment (RTUs, comms panels, and related infrastructure).
- Diagnose, investigate, and remediate RTU issues, including configuration changes.
- Perform SCADA configuration updates.
- Carry out site surveys for ICA and telemetry systems, producing accurate asset records and recommendations.
- Produce clear post-remediation reports for RTU works.
- Conduct commissioning and site acceptance testing of RTUs and control systems.
- Prepare and follow safety-related documentation (e.g., RAMS).
- Collaborate closely with colleagues and clients to ensure successful project delivery.
Experience required:
- Practical experience with ICA, telemetry, or control systems.
- Knowledge of RTUs, SCADA, or related technologies (desirable).
- Strong problem-solving and diagnostic skills.
- Willingness to travel, including regular visits to Ireland.
- A proactive approach to safety, quality, and documentation.
