The Opportunity

An established global engineering manufacturer is seeking an Installation & Service Technician to join its specialist technical team.

This is an exciting opportunity for a hands-on, multi-skilled engineer who enjoys travel, problem solving and working independently in customer environments across the UK and internationally.

The role combines installation, commissioning, fault finding, servicing and repair of highly specialised industrial equipment. No two weeks are the same, with opportunities to travel worldwide and work on technically advanced machinery at customer sites.

Extensive product training will be provided, however candidates will need a strong engineering foundation and the confidence to work autonomously when supporting customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Installation and commissioning of specialist industrial machinery at customer sites.
  • Service, maintenance and repair activities across the installed equipment base.
  • Diagnosis and resolution of mechanical, electrical and control system faults.
  • Carrying out planned and reactive customer support visits, often at short notice.
  • Producing detailed technical service reports and documentation following site visits.
  • Liaising with customers, internal technical teams and engineering departments to resolve issues.
  • Supporting product improvements through accurate fault reporting and technical feedback.
  • Ensuring work is completed safely, professionally and to high quality standards.

Candidate Profile

We are interested in speaking with engineers who have experience in a field service, installation, maintenance or commissioning environment.

Essential Requirements

  • Multi-skilled engineering background with both mechanical and electrical fault-finding experience.
  • Ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues independently.
  • Experience reading and working from technical drawings, schematics and engineering documentation.
  • Strong practical engineering skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
  • Confident communication and customer-facing skills.
  • Ability to produce professional technical reports.
  • Willingness to travel extensively throughout the UK and internationally, often at short notice.
  • Full UK driving licence and ability to drive overseas where required.
  • Self-motivated, organised and comfortable working independently.

Desirable Requirements

  • HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Experience with automated machinery, electromechanical systems, industrial controls or textile manufacturing equipment.
  • Previous field service, installation, commissioning or technical support experience.
  • PLC fault-finding knowledge.
  • Bench fitting or precision assembly experience.
