Income Officer/Assistant

Purpose of the Role:
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Income Officer/Assistant to join a successful Income Team on a contract basis until the end of April. This is an ideal opportunity for someone looking to develop their career in income management, with the chance to gain hands-on experience in a supportive and high-performing team.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage low-level rent arrears, ensuring early intervention to support tenants and prevent arrears from escalating.
Deal with garage rent arrears and former tenant arrears in line with procedures.
Liaise with tenants via phone, email, letters, and in-person to negotiate payment arrangements and offer advice on rent responsibilities.
Maintain accurate records of tenant contact and actions taken on the housing management system.
Signpost tenants to appropriate support services, such as welfare benefits advice or financial inclusion support.
Monitor and update arrears cases, escalating where necessary to the Income Officer for court-related action.
Provide administrative support to the wider Income Team and cover duties in the absence of the Income Assistant, including inbox management, data entry, and producing arrears reports.
Person Specification:
Essential:
Some experience in housing, customer service, or rent collection roles
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to manage a workload independently and work well as part of a team
Good organisational and time management abilities
Basic knowledge of arrears management processes
Desirable:
Experience using housing management or rent accounting systems
Understanding of the income collection process in social housing
Willingness to learn and develop within the role
