Import/Export & Logistics Executive

Role Overview

• We are a leading FMCG food company supplying products to over 124 countries worldwide.
• We are seeking an experienced Import/Export & Logistics Executive to oversee international shipping, freight negotiations, and trade compliance across our global supply chain.
• The role will be hands-on, and you will be given a high level of responsibility.
• You will be responsible for coordinating container shipments, managing freight partners, negotiating transport rates, and ensuring all import/export documentation complies with international requirements.
• The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring goods move efficiently from suppliers to our warehouses while optimising freight costs and maintaining full regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

International Logistics Management:

• Plan and coordinate international shipments via sea, air, and road freight
• Manage container movements from suppliers to their final destination
• Monitor shipment schedules and proactively manage delays or disruptions
• Coordinate with freight forwarders, shipping lines, and transport providers
• Track shipments and ensure on-time delivery

Freight Negotiation & Carrier Management:

• Negotiate freight rates and contracts with freight forwarders, carriers, and logistics providers
• Continuously review and optimise shipping routes and logistics costs
• Maintain strong relationships with logistics partners
• Evaluate logistics providers to ensure competitive pricing and service levels

Import / Export Compliance:

• Manage all import and export documentation, including:
• Commercial invoices
• Packing lists
• Bills of lading / airway bills
• Certificates of origin
• Customs declarations
• Ensure compliance with international trade regulations and customs requirements
• Verify correct HS codes, duties, and tariff classifications
• Work closely with customs brokers to ensure smooth customs clearance

Operational Coordination:

• Coordinate logistics between suppliers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and warehouses
• Ensure all shipments meet regulatory and company compliance standards
• Resolve shipping issues such as delays, customs holds, or documentation discrepancies
• Maintain accurate shipping and logistics records

Requirements:

• Proven experience in international logistics, freight forwarding, or supply chain management across multiple regions
• Strong knowledge of import/export procedures and customs regulations
• Experience negotiating freight rates with logistics providers
• Familiarity with sea freight, container shipping, and international transport networks
• Experience working with freight forwarders and customs brokers
• Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
• Ability to manage multiple ship
