Import / Export Clerk

Freightserve recruitment are looking for an Import / Export Brokerage Clerk for a well-established Freight Forwarder based in the Slough, Berkshire area.Key Responsibilities:-Prepare and submit import and export customs declarations using CDS entries.Ensure compliance with UK customs legislation, trade agreements, VAT, duty rules, and customs procedures.Manage customs documentation such as commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, and preference certificates.Liaise with HMRC, customers, shipping partners, and internal teams on customs queries.Monitor and resolve customs delays, document discrepancies, and clearance issues.Maintain up-to-date knowledge of UK customs policies and regulatory changes (e.g. CDS transition, post-Brexit trade rules).Support audits, record-keeping, and compliance reporting.Advise on tariff classification, customs valuation, INCOTERMS, and duty relief schemes (e.g. IPR/OPR, RGR).Key Skills and ExperienceMinimum 5 years'' experience in customs clearance or international trade compliance.Strong knowledge of UK Customs rules, HMRC requirements, and trade systems.Experience using CDS and Sequoia.Understanding of tariff codes, commodity classification, and customs procedures.Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.Ability to work accurately under pressure and manage time effectively.Professional qualification (e.g. BIFA, IOEandIT) is desirable but not essential.BenefitsCompetitive salary and annual bonus dependant on ..... full job details .....
