Job Purpose
To maintain exceptional standards of cleanliness, food safety, and operational sanitation within the seafood processing facility during overnight hours. This role ensures that all production lines, machinery, and facilities are fully deep-cleaned, sanitised, and compliant with food safety regulations, ready for the morning production shift.

Key Responsibilities

1. Cleaning & Deep Sanitation
  • Equipment Strip-Down: Dismantle and strip down specialised seafood processing machinery (e.g., de-scalers, filleting machines, portioners, and conveyors) prior to cleaning, and safely reassemble them post-sanitation.
  • Debris Removal: Remove organic fish waste, including fish bits, skin, scales, and oils, utilising specific cold-water rinses to prevent protein-based soils from solidifying.
  • Deep Cleaning: Execute scheduled daily and deep-cleaning checklists across all production zones, floors, walls, and drainage systems.
  • Chemical Application: Safely handle and apply food-safe detergents, sanitisers, and disinfectants according to strict contact-time and concentration guidelines.
  • Pre-Operational Verification: Conduct post-cleaning visual inspections and complete required chemical/hygiene logs accurately to hand over a clean plant to Quality Assurance (QA).
Health & Safety: Correctly utilise specialised Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) suitable for wet, cold, and chemical-heavy environments. Report any machinery faults or safety hazards to the supervisor immediately.

Candidate Requirements

  • Skills & Experience
    • Experience: Previous experience in industrial cleaning, sanitation, or hygiene roles within a food manufacturing environment (seafood processing highly preferred).
    • Chemical Safety Knowledge: Basic understanding of COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) or local chemical handling standards.
    • Attention to Detail: Ability to spot hard-to-clean biological hazards, as food poisoning bacteria cannot be detected by smell or sight alone.
    • Communication: Good literacy and communication skills to interpret chemical labels, follow cleaning schedules.
