HVAC Project Manager

Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical HVAC Project Manager to join a well-established Midlands-based Mechanical and Electrical design & build contractor. The role covers multifaceted commercial and industrial projects, with contract values ranging from circa £50k to £5m+.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end management of HVAC projects, including system design, coordination, installation, and commissioning. This includes developing system specifications, preparing and overseeing construction drawings and documentation, and managing contractors and subcontractors.

The role is based at the Nottingham office, with occasional travel to client sites as required.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop system specifications and produce construction drawings, plant and equipment schedules for Mechanical HVAC systems.
• Manage technical submissions and RFI communication with project teams.
• Place orders with suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring timely delivery.
• Coordinate site works and manage subcontractor activities.
• Oversee project budgets from inception to final account, including preparing and agreeing monthly applications for payment.
• Track project costs, including labour and materials, and monitor forecasts and P&L.
• Manage variations and additional works with associated costs.
• Conduct site visits, inspections, and attend client/subcontractor meetings.
• Resolve technical or operational issues during construction.
• Organise and oversee commissioning and start-up of new systems.
• Prepare Operating & Maintenance (O&M) documentation.
• Provide technical support and training to clients.
• Keep up to date with the latest HVAC technologies and industry practices.

Candidate Requirements

• HND/HNC or degree in HVAC Mechanical Building Services, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years’ experience in the design and build Mechanical HVAC sector.
• Strong understanding of HVAC principles and practices.
• Experience with, or understanding of, AutoCAD and Building Information Modelling (BIM) software.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
