Summary:

Join a skilled MEICA and capital maintenance team specialising in Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control & Automation (MEICA) services across essential infrastructure sectors. As an HV Technician, you will be responsible for the installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of high-voltage (HV) substation equipment up to 132kV within Distribution Network Operators'' (DNO) networks. Your role will ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant operation of HV assets, supporting preventative maintenance, fault response, and asset condition reporting.

Key duties include carrying out HV substation installation and fitting works in line with DNO standards, assisting with commissioning, inspection, testing, and maintenance of equipment such as circuit breakers, transformers, busbars, earthing systems, and isolators. You will interpret substation drawings, wiring schematics, and switching schedules, support fault diagnostics and repairs under supervision, and safely operate HV test equipment (e.g., insulation testers, VLF, Ductor). Maintaining safety through appropriate control measures, permits, and isolation procedures is paramount.

Skills:

  • HV substation installation and maintenance (up to 132kV)
  • Commissioning, inspection, and testing of HV equipment

  • Fault location, diagnostics, and repair support
  • Safe operation of HV test equipment (insulation testers, VLF, Ductor)
