This role is part of our MEICA and capital maintenance team. Our Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control & Automation experts provide a one-stop solution, including ongoing operation and maintenance services across the Group.
What We’re Looking ForThe most important requirement for this role is hands-on experience working with DNO (Distribution Network Operator) assets, with a strong understanding of HV distribution systems and safe systems of work.
You will also need to be flexible to travel regularly to Cambridge as part of your role.
Formal qualifications are desirable but not a blocker — the right candidate will have the opportunity to gain and complete all necessary certifications and training with us.
What You’ll Be DoingInstallation, maintenance, and repair of high-voltage (HV) electrical equipment and systems to ensure safety, compliance, and efficiency.
Working on HV equipment across substations (AIS and GIS), including transformers (up to 132kV), disconnectors, CTs, switchgear, protection panels, and SCADA systems, to DNO/IDNO specifications.
Carrying out general maintenance, testing, inspections, and remedial works.
Supporting installation of power systems on-site and assisting station engineers with defects.
Glanding, terminating, and testing of cables, including insulation resistance and ductor testing.
Reading and working from technical drawings and specifications.
Maintaining compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
Collaborating with the team to troubleshoot and resolve issues effectively.
Essential: Demonstrable experience working with DNO HV systems.
Proficient in the use of hand and power tools.
Strong awareness of safe systems of work within substations.
Problem-solving ability and confidence under pressure.
Good communication and teamwork skills.

City & Guilds 2339-17 (or equivalent)
Level 3 Power Networks Craftsperson Qualification
Level 3 in Electrical Engineering
Level 3 NVQ Electrical Maintenance (or Installations)
BS7671 18th Edition Wiring Regulations
Emergency First Aid at Work
Confined Space certifications (A, B & C)
EUSR, PAF 3a/3b, PASMA, Ladder Association, Slinger/Sig, Telehandler
