HV Field Service Engineer

Location: Highlands, Scotland
Industry: HV Substation Equipment
Scope of Work: A key role in a growing team that will provide first line support along with maintenance & repair services on the HV/LV electrical, instrumentation and mechanical systems of a substation.

Are you an ambitious Electrician or Engineer with High Voltage Substation experience?

Would you like to develop your knowledge of relays, breakers and switchgear towards being an industry specialist through industry-leading training?

Turner Lovell is recruiting a Field Service Engineer to join a global leader in sustainable energy and power grid technologies in Scotland. This is a fantastic opportunity for the right individual to join the leader in their specialism. You will join the existing team in delivering first line support on a flagship project in the Highlands, supporting the wider team as in tasks such as unplanned and planned outages, ad hoc standby coverage and tasks in line with maintenance of the equipment.

Your key responsibilities in the role will include:

  • delivering maintenance & repair services to the project; maintaining the value and maximizing the design life of the system.
  • controlling and performing work activities on HV/LV electrical, instrumentation and mechanical systems.
  • maintaining a strong relationship with the high-value customer on the project.
  • maintaining a safe working environment for all site employees & mitigating risks; managing Health Safety and Environmental risks associated with the business unit.


The ideal profile is someone who is:

  • Qualified Electrician / Engineer with proven HV substation experience.
  • Skilled in maintenance, fault finding, diagnostics on HV, LV and mechanical systems.
  • Strong technical reporting and documentation capability.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, and able to work independently to deadlines.
  • A good working knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations along with a relevant qualifica-tion. E.g., NEBOSH, IOSH, CSCS.
