Human Resources Manager (Senior Leadership Team)

Location: On-site role across Hull (HQ), Scunthorpe & Grimsby centres

Salary: Up to £52,000 + Annual Performance Bonus

Package: 42 Days Annual Leave (incl. BH), 7% Pension, Private Medical Insurance

Working Pattern: Full-Time, Permanent (Mon–Fri, 8:00 am–4:15 pm) Flexibility to work from home on an ad-hoc basis whenever you need quiet, uninterrupted thinking time.

Are you an assertive, down-to-earth HR professional who loves being in the thick of operations—someone who can talk through a People Strategy to the SLT at 9 AM, and immediately roll up their sleeves to write a job description, schedule interview slots or deal with a staff query at 10 AM?

At Humberside Engineering Training Association (HETA), we are a successful, commercially driven engineering training provider bridging private sector agility with educational purpose. As our new HR Manager, you will hold a key role on our 6-person Senior Leadership Team (SLT), reporting directly to the CEO.

There is no multi-tiered corporate HR department backing you up here; this is an unpretentious, hands-on role where you completely own the HR function. You won't be working in isolation, however—you'll be part of a friendly, close-knit Senior Leadership Team that shares ideas openly, works collectively, and brings humour to the day-to-day!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Executive Strategy - Sit on the SLT, contribute to daily operational huddles, and shape a practical People Strategy which fits with our aims and business objectives
  • Direct Talent Acquisition - Take personal charge of recruitment—drafting adverts, managing agency partners, building talent pipelines and ensuring cost and process efficiencies
  • Employee Relations - Implementation of employee policies and procedures and managing HR casework.
  • Operations & Policy Update employee handbooks, implement policies, manage the company-wide staff training budget and maintain a visible presence across our Hull, Scunthorpe, and Grimsby sites.

Who are we looking for?

You will be:

  • CIPD level 5 qualified or equivalent hands-on experience
  • A firm, fair, and focused professional approach
  • Experience of designing and implementing new HR policies and procedures
  • Hands on management of HR casework and advising/educating managers
  • Experience of managing recruitment in-house, utilising creative sourcing methods to reduce agency spend and engage quality candidates directly.
  • Comfortable presenting and developing workforce insights for SLT meetings as well as handling day-to-day HR admin
  • IT literate with an inquisitive approach to using AI and digital HR tools
  • Commercially minded – if you have workforce planning knowledge this would be a bonus
  • High emotional intelligence, self motivated with a good sense of humour
  • Clean driving licence for travel to our sites
