HSEQ Manager – Chemical Manufacturing
Location: Newcastle upon Tyne / North East
Salary: Up to £50,000 + bonus & benefits

Search² has been exclusively engaged by an established chemical manufacturing business to recruit an HSEQ Manager for its North East manufacturing operation.

This is an opportunity to take a key role within a specialist manufacturing environment, with responsibility for Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality standards across the site.

The business is open to an established HSEQ/HSE Manager, but equally an experienced Health & Safety Advisor ready to take the next step into their first management position.

The priority is finding someone with a strong Health & Safety foundation, relevant chemical or process manufacturing experience and the confidence to take greater ownership across HSEQ.

The Role Working closely with the site's operational leadership team, you will take responsibility for HSEQ performance across the manufacturing operation.

Your role will include:

• Leading and developing Health & Safety across the site
• Supporting process safety and the management of chemical and hazardous substance risks
• Maintaining and improving the Integrated Management System
• Supporting ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001
• Managing auditing, compliance, incident investigation and corrective actions
• Working with operational teams to improve standards, engagement and safety culture

The environment involves chemical and process risks, so knowledge of areas such as COSHH, DSEAR, HAZOP, LOPA, Management of Change and COMAH would be particularly relevant.

What We're Looking For The key requirement is Health & Safety experience gained within chemical manufacturing or a closely related process manufacturing environment.

You could already be operating as an HSEQ Manager, HSE Manager or SHEQ Manager, or you may be an experienced Health & Safety Advisor looking for the opportunity to progress into management.

A NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent Level 6 qualification would be preferred, although candidates holding the NEBOSH General Certificate with strong relevant industry experience will also be considered.

You don't need to be a finished Quality specialist. The priority is your Health & Safety capability, understanding of higher-risk manufacturing environments and ability to develop into wider HSEQ responsibility.

The Opportunity This is particularly well suited to someone who wants greater ownership and the opportunity to influence how HSEQ is managed across a manufacturing site.

For an Advisor, it provides a genuine route into management.

For an existing Manager, it offers the opportunity to take ownership within a specialist chemical manufacturing environment and work closely with the site's operational leadership.

Package: Up to £50,000 + bonus & benefits
Monday to Friday, permanent and site based.
