HSE Lead

Elvet Recruitment are on the lookout for a-HSE Lead to take ownership of Safety, Health, Environment and Quality across a growing North East business.

Operating across the water, wastewater, power and utilities sectors, the company delivers infrastructure projects throughout the North East and beyond.

This is an opportunity to lead and develop integrated SHEQ systems, drive continuous improvement and embed a proactive safety culture across a growing business.

Working closely with senior leadership, operational teams and site management, the successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining compliance, improving performance and ensuring the highest standards are consistently achieved.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop integrated SHEQ management systems, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and industry standards.
• Drive continuous improvement across health, safety, environmental and quality performance.
• Promote a positive safety culture across all levels of the business.
• Conduct site inspections, audits and risk assessments, ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
• Monitor and report on SHEQ performance, providing guidance and support to operational teams.
• Investigate incidents, accidents and near misses, implementing measures to prevent recurrence.
• Ensure compliance with client requirements, industry standards and accreditation schemes.
• Deliver SHEQ training, briefings and awareness initiatives.
• Support project teams in maintaining safe systems of work, environmental controls and quality standards.
• Monitor legislative changes and ensure company policies and procedures remain up to date.

Required Experience/Qualifications:

• Proven experience in a SHEQ leadership or management role within civil engineering, utilities or construction.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety legislation, environmental compliance and quality management systems.
• Experience developing and maintaining integrated management systems.
• Confident conducting audits, inspections, investigations and risk assessments.
• Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence teams at all levels.
• A proactive approach to compliance, problem-solving and continuous improvement.
• Relevant SHEQ qualifications, such as NEBOSH, IOSH or equivalent.
• Experience within the water, wastewater, power or utilities sectors would be advantageous.

Remuneration

Our client is offering a salary up to -52,500 + Package.
