HR Manager – Syria Programme Development

6 month fixed term contract
Location: Manchester preferred, remote within the UK considered
Starting salary: £40,416 per annum (plus contributory pension)
About the role:We are seeking an experienced and organised HR Manager to support MAG’s Syria programme during its expansion. This operational HR role involves working across Northeast, Northwest, and Central Syria, collaborating closely with MAG’s Syria and Middle East teams. Your responsibilities include designing and implementing recruitment strategies for local and international roles, advising on employment law and contract modalities, developing HR systems, and supporting organisational People and Culture initiatives. The goal is to ensure our People and Culture function is transparent, accessible, and compliant, enabling MAG’s Syria programme to deliver high-quality impact.
About you:You should have demonstrable experience developing HR systems, policies, and procedures in an international context. While experience in a humanitarian organisation is not required, strong project management, people management, communication, and influencing skills are essential, along with knowledge of employment law. You must be organised, with a proven ability to support workforce planning and organisational readiness. Flexibility, a solution-focused approach, strong research skills, and the ability to analyse information are important. You should be driven, committed to high standards, and aligned with MAG’s mission, vision, and values.
