HR Manager Responsibilities
This position will involve, but will not be limited to:
- Providing HR guidance and support to managers across various operational teams, including housekeeping, catering, and events, ensuring alignment with employment law and best practices.
- Supporting recruitment and onboarding processes to attract and retain talent that contributes to the vibrant staff community.
- Managing staff disciplinary, grievance, and investigation cases (around 2-3 per month), ensuring fair and lawful procedures are followed.
- Leading on training and development initiatives while delivering inductions for new starters, to foster professional growth.
- Interpreting HR policies, supporting project work, and implementing procedures that enhance efficiency and compliance.
- Offering welfare support to staff and actively promoting an inclusive and respectful workplace culture.
- Working onsite four days per week, engaging directly with staff across different departments and client groups, including shift workers such as night porters and cleaners.

HR Manager Experience Essentials
- CIPD Level 7 qualification or equivalent with continuous professional development.
- Extensive experience in HR ER case management, employment law, and policy implementation.
- Proven ability to support and advise managers effectively on HR and ER issues.
- Experience working with diverse staff groups, including shift workers, and supporting multilingual staff.
- Strong interpersonal skills, discretion, and empathy.
- Demonstrable creativity in communicating HR matters to various audiences.
- Previous experience within an Oxford College or hospitality sector would be an advantage
- Previous line management experience
- Ability to work onsite four days per week and adapt to changing work patterns.
Location
The role involves working onsite in a central Oxford campus environment accessible by multiple transport links, with no car parking available. Flexibility to work one day from home is available, depending on operational demands.
