Job Title: HR Investigator and Resolutions AdvisorDivision: CorporateCare Group: HRandODBand: 5 or 6, depending on experience. Candidates may be supported through annex 21 to reach the required level and qualificationsSalary: £38,682 - £46,580 per annum (based on band 6)We have an exciting opportunity to join our new centralised HR Investigations and Resolutions Team. We are recruiting for an HR Investigator and Resolutions Advisor who shares our ambition and vision to deliver the Best of Care by the Best People and has the drive to take us forward, by ensuring that the Trust continues to be the first choice for patients and our staff.The post holder will independently undertake Employee Relations investigations, in line with best practice policy and procedures, and will encourage and support the delivery of informal Resolution options to support workplace issues and disputes, including facilitation and mediation.

Responsibilities

Independently undertake Disciplinary and Grievance investigationsInterview witnesses, create witness statements and ensure their accuracy and sign-offProduce comprehensive written investigation reports and present cases at formal hearingsReview and interpret conflicting, sensitive and contentious information, producing clear and fair investigation reports that explain factual elementsIdentify and escalate potential risks to ensure appropriate action to mitigate risksUtilise and analyse information to manage cases in line with policy and minimise risk of Employment Tribunal claimsSupport and encourage early and informal intervention to resolve staff issues, working with wider HR colleagues, managers and employees to promote resolution optionsDeliver facilitated conversations and formal mediation sessions between employees

Job responsibilities

An exciting opportunity has arisen for someone looking to develop and progress their ER skills and experience.To support the Case Manager and Resolutions Business Partner to create Terms of Reference for investigations where needed, sending weekly updates on completion times for each caseTo engage with subject matter experts where a clinical or specialist view is needed to understand or support findings during an investigationTo refer cases to the Resolutions Business Partner where an element of fraud is uncovered during an investigation and to link with local counter fraud contacts as neededTo advise the Case Manager on the ongoing management of the employee during the investigation, including recommendations such as referral to absence management, Mental Health First Aid Support, and review of suspensionsTo provide all administration for the case, including organising a hearing date at early investigation stage to avoid delays due to panel availabilityPlanning each case with clear project management delivery timelinesTo interview witnesses, create witness statements and ensure their accuracy and sign-offReview and interpret information, producing a clear investigation reportIdentify and escalate risks to mitigate themEnsure cases are managed in line with policy to achieve optimum outcomes and minimise ET riskSupport early informal intervention to resolve staff issues, working with HR colleagues, managers and employeesDeliver facilitated conversations and formal mediation sessions

Management and leadership

Use a coaching leadership style to build relationships and influence managersEnsure effective communication with colleagues for consistency in advice and practiceDevelop people management capacity through coaching and training on Investigations and Hearings and HR policiesProvide coaching to other employees to support development

Training and policy development

Provide HR policy and procedural coaching and training to managers and groupsProvide People Skills training (e.g., mediation/facilitation) to staffPropose policies and service improvements, stay updated on employment law, and advise accordingly

Qualifications and Experience (Essential)

Degree or equivalentFully CIPD qualified, level 5 or aboveMediation or Investigator Qualification, or willingness to complete within 12 monthsUp-to-date Employment Law KnowledgeKnowledge of NHS Terms and ConditionsBest Practice Employee RelationsExperience undertaking or supporting ER InvestigationsAdvising managers on conflict and grievancesExperience in a unionised environmentExperience developing HR policies and writing reportsProviding coaching or trainingProviding advice and supporting managers with ER policies
