Payroll is your speciality. HR is your opportunity.We’re looking for an experienced HR & Payroll Administrator to join our client’s Finance and HR team in Midsomer Norton.
Please note: significant, hands-on payroll experience is essential for this role. You’ll be responsible for the accurate and timely processing of two payrolls using Moorepay, so we’re looking for someone who is confident managing payroll from start to finish and understands the importance of getting it right, every time.
Alongside payroll, you’ll provide valuable HR administration support to the Group HR Manager, giving you the opportunity to develop your HR experience while using your existing payroll expertise.

What you’ll be doingPayroll – your key responsibility- Preparing and processing two payrolls, ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time
- Managing gross pay calculations, including overtime and holiday pay
- Inputting and loading variable payroll data
- Ensuring PAYE and National Insurance payments to HMRC are accurate and made on time
- Ensuring pension contributions are correctly processed and paid within required timescales
- Handling payroll queries from employees and managers
- Providing payroll information to the Finance team for month-end reporting
- Producing regular payroll reports for managers and directors
- Supporting tax year-end activities and P11D preparation
- Liaising with auditors when required
- Producing ad hoc payroll reports and analysis
- Preparing employment contracts and starter and leaver documentation
- Carrying out DBS checks
- Preparing salary amendment letters
- Supporting managers with HR-related paperwork and administration
- Supporting the Group HR Manager with HR projects and ad hoc activities
- Working closely with managers, employees and stakeholders across the wider business
Payroll experience is imperative for this position.
We’re looking for an experienced payroll professional who is confident taking ownership of payroll processes and working to strict deadlines.
You’ll ideally have:
- At least 5 years’ hands-on experience running payrolls – essential
- Experience of processing payroll from start to finish
- Experience using Moorepay would be highly advantageous
- Strong knowledge of PAYE, National Insurance and pensions
- Good working knowledge of Excel
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- The ability to work calmly and accurately under pressure
- Excellent communication skills and the confidence to deal with employee and manager queries
- A professional, approachable and helpful manner
- High levels of integrity and confidentiality
- The ability to manage competing priorities and consistently meet payroll deadlines
This is much more than a standard HR administration role. You’ll have real ownership of two payrolls, while also gaining exposure to a broad range of HR activities and projects.
You’ll work closely with Finance, HR, managers and employees across the business, making this a varied role where no two days are necessarily the same.
