We are seeking a proactive and compassionate Housing Triage Officer to join a Housing Options team within a Local Authority in Devon. This hybrid role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference by preventing homelessness and supporting some of the most vulnerable members of our community. As the first point of contact for customers who are homeless or threatened with homelessness, you will provide comprehensive housing advice face-to-face, by telephone and email. You will carry out initial assessments and investigations, applying your knowledge of housing and homelessness legislation, including duties under the Homelessness Reduction Act 2018, to ensure statutory responsibilities are met. You will manage a caseload of clients with a range of complex needs, making informed decisions on homelessness duties and delivering person-centred advice. This includes taking proactive steps to prevent homelessness, negotiating with landlords and families, liaising with partner agencies, and supporting clients to access appropriate services. The role also involves safeguarding vulnerable individuals, contributing to performance targets and case reviews (including MARAC), and deputising for colleagues where required to maintain service standards. We are looking for someone with strong knowledge of housing legislation, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work confidently in challenging situations. Experience supporting vulnerable clients and working in partnership ..... full job details .....
