Housing Subsidy Officer

We are currently looking for an experienced Housing Subsidy Officer to join a busy Revenues and Benefits service. This Housing Subsidy Officer role will focus on subsidy assurance, quality checking, Housing Benefit accuracy and maximising subsidy income for the organisation.

The successful candidate will undertake detailed reviews of Housing Benefit assessments, support the completion of annual subsidy claims and work closely with auditors to ensure subsidy returns are submitted accurately. This Housing Subsidy Officer position would suit someone with strong Housing Benefit knowledge and previous experience within a Revenues and Benefits environment.

The Role
- Reviewing Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction claims to ensure assessments are accurate and compliant with legislation.
- Undertaking subsidy checks across complex cases including temporary accommodation, hostels, students, self-employed applicants and persons from abroad.
- Supporting the completion and submission of annual Housing Benefit subsidy claims.
- Liaising with external auditors and assisting with subsidy audit requirements.
- Identifying high-risk subsidy areas and undertaking targeted quality checks.
- Providing feedback to Benefits Team Leaders and identifying training needs.
- Supporting the delivery of subsidy awareness and performance improvement training.
- Making recommendations to improve subsidy performance and maximise income.
- Deputising for the Subsidy Team Leader where required.

Key Requirements
- Previous experience working within a Revenues and Benefits environment.
- Experience assessing or reviewing Housing Benefit and Council Tax Reduction claims.
- Knowledge of Housing Benefit legislation and subsidy regulations.
- Experience undertaking quality assurance, subsidy checking or claim verification.
- Experience working with complex Housing Benefit cases.
- Experience supporting Housing Benefit subsidy claims and audits.
- Strong understanding of benefits legislation and case law.
