Housing Standards Officer Location: Riverbank House, EX39 2QG Start Date: ASAP Contract Duration: 3+ Months Working Hours: Mon Fri, 09 00 Pay Rate: £ 44.00 Per Hour Job Ref: (phone number removed) Job Responsibilities Inspect and assess housing conditions to ensure compliance with public health and housing standards. Respond to complaints related to housing standards and health hazards. Provide guidance and advice to landlords, tenants, and the public regarding housing regulations. Investigate cases of non-compliance and take appropriate enforcement action. Maintain accurate records and prepare reports on inspections and investigations. Collaborate with internal teams, external agencies, and other stakeholders to resolve housing issues. Person Specification Must-Have Requirements: Eligibility to work in the UK. Relevant experience in housing standards, public health, or a related field. Strong knowledge of housing legislation and public health regulations. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple cases. Valid DBS clearance (Basic Level). Nice-to-Have Requirements: Previous experience working in local government or a regulatory environment. Additional training or qualifications in environmental health or housing. Experience in preparing reports for legal or enforcement purposes.
