An Essex local authority is seeking an experienced Housing Options Officer to support the team on an initial 3-month contract. This is an excellent opportunity for a homelessness professional who is confident managing a varied caseload and delivering high-quality customer outcomes.

The role will involve:

• Assessing homelessness applications and determining duties under the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017
• Delivering comprehensive housing advice to applicants at risk of homelessness
• Developing and reviewing Personalised Housing Plans (PHPs)
• Working closely with households to prevent homelessness and secure sustainable housing solutions
• Conducting enquiries and issuing legally compliant decisions under Part VII of the Housing Act 1996

What we''re looking for:

• Previous Housing Options experience within a UK local authority
• Strong knowledge of homelessness legislation, including the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017
• Experience managing Prevention and Relief duties from initial approach through to case closure
• Availability to attend the office twice per week
