About the Role

This field-based Housing Officer - South Hams role covers a patch across South Brent and the wider South Hams area, working 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday. On offer is £20.75 per hour on an initial one-month contract that may extend. The successful candidate acts as first point of contact for residents, handling tenancy enquiries, permissions, sign-ups, property viewings and breaches, alongside wider neighbourhood and estate management duties. Applicants should bring a solid social housing background, strong tenancy knowledge and the confidence to work independently across a geographical patch. A Basic DBS check is required, and interviews take place promptly.

Housing Officer – Plymouth & South Hams
Location: Plymouth & South Hams, Devon
Pay: £20.75 per hour

We are recruiting for an experienced Housing Officer to provide frontline housing and neighbourhood management across a Plymouth and South Hams patch.
This is a field-based role and an excellent opportunity for someone with a strong social housing, tenancy and estate management background who can hit the ground running.
The Role

  • Manage a geographical housing patch and act as the main point of contact for residents
  • Handle tenancy enquiries, permissions and general housing management
  • Carry out tenancy sign-ups and property viewings
  • Manage tenancy breaches and take appropriate action
  • Identify and respond to safeguarding concerns
  • Carry out estate inspections and maintain high neighbourhood standards
  • Work with internal teams, contractors and external agencies
  • Support resident engagement and community development
  • Help maintain sustainable tenancies and safe, welcoming communities
  • Support housing activity relating to new developments where required
What We're Looking For
  • Previous social housing experience
  • Strong knowledge of tenancy, estate and neighbourhood management
  • CIH Level 4 qualification or willingness to work towards it
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Confident managing a busy and varied caseload
  • Strong organisation and ability to prioritise
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a suitable vehicle
  • Ability to pass a Basic DBS check
