## Housing Enforcement Officer

Location: NorthamptonHours: 37 hours per week

LYNX Employment Services are recruiting on behalf of our client for an experienced Housing Enforcement Officer to join their Private Sector Housing team in Northampton.
This is a hands-on role for an experienced enforcement professional who can hit the ground running with minimal training or supervision.

### The Role

You will be responsible for carrying out housing inspections and taking appropriate enforcement action within the private rented sector. Duties will include HHSRS assessments, investigating housing conditions and hazards, preparing and serving notices, and progressing formal enforcement cases.
The role also involves HMO-related work and taking enforcement action where landlords or properties fail to meet the required standards.

### Essential Requirements

To be considered, you must have:

• Current HHSRS competency
• Recent and substantial experience carrying out housing inspections and enforcement activity
• Strong working knowledge of housing legislation
• Proven experience applying enforcement powers under the Housing Act 2004
• Hands-on experience issuing Civil Financial Penalties
• The ability to confidently manage cases with minimal supervision

Civil Financial Penalty experience is essential. Candidates must be able to demonstrate that they have personally taken enforcement action and issued penalties; knowledge of the legislation alone will not be sufficient.
Previous private sector housing enforcement experience, including using risk-based inspections and a range of enforcement options, forms an important part of the role.

### Desirable

Experience of First-tier Tribunal proceedings, including preparing case files and/or representing cases at hearings, would be advantageous.
