Housing Advisor - Rough Sleepers
A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Housing Advisor to join a South London local authority, providing specialist housing support to residents facing homelessness, including those who are rough sleeping. The successful candidate will be responsible for undertaking assessments and investigations of homeless applications under Part VII of the Housing Act 1996, ensuring decisions are made accurately and in line with statutory requirements. This will include assessing housing needs, identifying appropriate duties owed under the Homelessness Reduction Act, and making s193 main duty decisions where required. A key focus of the role will be supporting people who are rough sleeping, working proactively to identify individuals in need of assistance and providing tailored housing advice and solutions to help prevent and relieve homelessness. You will work closely with outreach teams and partner organisations to carry out housing needs assessments in a variety of settings, including day centres, supported housing schemes and short-term emergency hotel accommodation. This role would suit an experienced Housing Advisor with a strong understanding of homelessness legislation, excellent assessment skills and the ability to build effective relationships with vulnerable residents and partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes.
