Are you passionate about helping people in housing need? Do you have the skills to prevent homelessness and make a real difference in your community? If so, we''d love to hear from you.
About the Role
We''re looking for a Housing Advice Officer to join our busy team. You''ll provide high-quality housing advice and work directly with residents who are facing homelessness or housing difficulties.
This is a varied role where no two days are the same - one day you might be negotiating with a landlord to save someone''s tenancy, the next you could be supporting a vulnerable household to access safe accommodation.
You''ll manage your own caseload, carry out detailed homelessness assessments under the Housing Act 1996 and Homelessness Reduction Act 2017, and develop Personalised Housing Plans to achieve the best possible outcomes for our residents.
What You''ll Be Doing
Giving clear, practical housing advice on homelessness, landlord/tenant issues, affordability, and domestic abuse.
Preventing homelessness wherever possible by negotiating with landlords, family members, and other agencies.
Assessing homelessness applications and making legally robust decisions.
Working with partners such as private landlords, housing associations, and support agencies to source accommodation and support.
Putting the customer at the heart of everything you do, especially vulnerable households who may need extra support.
About You
We''re looking for someone who is:
Experienced in housing, homelessness, tenancy management, or a related area.
Knowledgeable about housing law, homelessness legislation, and welfare benefits (or eager to learn quickly).
A strong communicator, able to build trust and negotiate effectively.
Highly organised, able to manage a busy caseload to statutory deadlines.
Committed to fairness, safeguarding, and providing excellent customer service.
What We Offer
A supportive and collaborative team environment.
Ongoing training and development to build your housing law expertise.
The opportunity to make a direct and positive impact on people''s lives.
