Salary: Up to £48,000 (dependent on experience and qualifications)
Hours: Full-time, 35 hours per week (including some on-call and out-of-hours duties)

I''m recruiting on behalf of a respected client seeking a Home Manager to lead a multi-bed residential children''s home in Barnstaple, providing high-quality care to young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD). This is a rewarding opportunity to take ownership of a home, shape a dedicated team, and influence the lives of children who deserve the very best.
About the Role:
As the Home Manager, you''ll be responsible for the overall leadership, management, and regulatory compliance of the home. You''ll work closely with the Responsible Individual and Senior Management Team to ensure the home not only meets but exceeds Ofsted standards, creating a safe, caring, and structured environment where children and young people can thrive.
Key Responsibilities:
·Lead and develop your team to deliver outstanding, trauma-informed care
·Maintain full compliance with Ofsted''s Quality Standards and regulations
·Write and manage the home''s Statement of Purpose
·Oversee referrals, admissions, and impact risk assessments
·Ensure all children have up-to-date care and placement plans with clear outcomes
·Support and supervise staff at all levels, fostering a culture of reflection and development
·Maintain effective staff rotas, ensuring 24-hour cover and fair allocation of sleep-ins and on-call duties
·Ensure accurate record-keeping, reporting, and regulatory documentation
·Manage the home''s finances responsibly, ensuring operational viability
·Promote the home positively to external professionals, parents, and agencies
·Maintain a high standard of health and safety across the property
·Collaborate with the Responsible Individual, Regulation 33 visitor, and wider team to drive continual improvement
·Contribute to the wider strategic development of the service and organisation
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
·Proven experience in managing or leading within a children''s residential care setting
·A Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent), or working towards it
·Sound knowledge of safeguarding, Ofsted frameworks, and children''s legislation
·Strong leadership, communication, and decision-making skills
·The ability to develop and motivate a team with integrity and professionalism
·A positive, child-focused attitude and passion for achieving the best outcomes
·A full UK driving licence
