Are you an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant looking for your next opportunity within a specialist educational setting?
A specialist independent school in South East London is seeking several dedicated HLTAs to join its team from September 2026.

The school is looking for confident, experienced professionals who can take an active role in supporting teaching and learning, leading interventions, and helping to create positive outcomes for students both inside and outside the classroom.
The Role
As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff to support the delivery of high-quality education across the school. You will provide targeted support to individual students and groups, lead learning activities when required, and contribute to a positive and engaging learning environment.
You will play an important role in supporting students'' academic progress, confidence, independence, and overall wellbeing.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver planned learning activities and interventions.
- Support teaching and learning across a range of subjects and abilities.
- Work with individual students and small groups to promote progress and engagement.
- Assist teachers in implementing personalised learning strategies.
- Support students with a range of Special Educational Needs.
- Promote positive behaviour and encourage student independence.
- Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
- Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and other professionals where required.
Requirements
- Previous experience working as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA).
- Experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs.
- Strong understanding of classroom practice and behaviour management.
- Confidence delivering interventions and supporting learning independently.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students and colleagues.
- A proactive, resilient, and professional approach.
