Supply Desk is currently looking for a passionate and dedicated history teacher to join a dynamic secondary school in Hemel Hempstead. The role is available for a long-term, full-time position, starting either after the half-term break or in September. This is a fantastic opportunity to inspire students and help them develop a love for history in a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Job Description:

  • Teach engaging history lessons to secondary school students, ensuring a high-quality learning experience.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons that cater to the diverse needs of students, using innovative teaching methods and resources.
  • Support the development of students'' historical knowledge, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
  • Assess and track student progress, providing regular feedback to students and parents.
  • Maintain effective classroom management, promoting positive behaviour and managing challenging situations with professionalism.
  • Contribute to the wider school community by participating in extracurricular activities, including history clubs or school events.
  • Work closely with other subject teachers and the SENCO to support students with additional needs, ensuring they are fully included in lessons and activities.
  • Provide a safe, supportive, and engaging classroom environment, encouraging students to achieve their full potential.
  • Actively contribute to departmental meetings and professional development opportunities.

Our ideal candidate will:

  • Be a qualified History teacher with a passion for the subject and experience teaching secondary school studentsandnbsp;
  • Have a strong understanding of the curriculum and how to create engaging and challenging lessons.
  • Be able to maintain effective classroom management, fostering a positive and focused environment.
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to work with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Be empathetic, patient, and committed to supporting the individual needs of students.
  • Be proactive, flexible, and adaptable in response to the changing needs of the students and the school.
  • Hold or be willing to obtain a clear DBS check (Disclosure and Barring Service).
  • Have or be willing to undertake additional training in relevant areas such as safeguarding and first aid.
