About the Role


Supply Desk is working in partnership with a well-regarded secondary school in Portsmouth to recruit a committed and knowledgeable History Teacher starting in September. This is a full-time, long-term role, initially until July 2026, with strong potential for a permanent position.

The successful candidate will teach History at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, delivering engaging and thought-provoking lessons that encourage historical enquiry and critical thinking.

The school is a mixed secondary school in Portsmouth with approximately 800 students aged 11 to 16. Rated andlsquo;Goodandrsquo; by Ofsted, it has a reputation for high academic standards and a supportive learning environment. The Humanities department is well-established and fosters collaboration, creativity, and a passion for the subject.



The Ideal Candidate Will:




  • Have recent UK experience teaching History at secondary level


  • Be confident and effective in the classroom with strong subject knowledge


  • Be passionate about making History accessible and engaging for all students


  • Demonstrate excellent behaviour and classroom management skills


  • Be a team player who contributes positively to school life


  • Hold QTS (Qualified Teacher Status) or an equivalent teaching qualification
