Site Manager - Highways | Scotland | Up to £55,000 + Company Van
Salary: Up to £55,000, dependent on experience
Location: Scotland - travel across various sites required, with occasional support in Northern England
Contract: Full-time, permanent
Working pattern: Days and nights, with working away required
Are you an experienced Site Manager looking to take ownership of major highways works across Scotland? This is an opportunity to lead site teams, deliver varied infrastructure projects and play an important role in the continued growth of a well-established highways contractor.
You will be joining a forward-thinking business operating across the highways maintenance and infrastructure sector. With a strong focus on safety, innovation and high-quality delivery, the company works across drainage, civil engineering, structures, technology and other specialist highways services.
Your role
As a Site Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day planning, management and delivery of highways projects across Scotland. You will be working across drainage surveys, trenchless remediation, filter drain recycling and wider civil engineering activities on the strategic road network.
You will be doing a hands-on role with regular site presence, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on programme and to the required quality standards.
You will be:
·Managing all aspects of site delivery, including programme, resources, commercial performance, safety, quality and environmental requirements.
·Ensuring works comply with SHEQ requirements, site rules and relevant highways standards.
·Coordinating shift start-ups, close-downs and changeovers to maintain safe and efficient operations.
·Supporting the preparation of Construction Phase Plans, Project Management Plans and other project documentation.
·Leading, supporting and developing Supervisors and Operatives working across your projects.
·Delivering pre-start briefings, toolbox talks and relevant site training.
·Carrying out appraisals and supporting the ongoing development of team members.
·Acting as a key point of contact for clients and project stakeholders.
·Attending site visits to support project development and asset assessments.
·Building effective working relationships with clients and identifying opportunities for additional work.
·Ensuring work is completed right first time and in accordance with the required specification.
·Monitoring project KPIs, programmes and deadlines.
·Managing staffing requirements, working hours and operational resources.
·Overseeing plant, vehicles, equipment and associated operational documentation.
What you will need
To succeed as a Site Manager, you will need previous experience managing highways contracts and teams working within live highways environments, including high-speed roads.
You will need a strong understanding of drainage construction and relevant industry requirements and standards, including CDM 2015, MCHW, DMRB, CS 551 and CD 535. You will also need a good understanding of health and safety requirements alongside commercial awareness and an appreciation of wider business objectives.
Strong communication, organisation and leadership skills will be important, as you will be working closely with clients, colleagues, site teams and the supply chain.
You will also need:
·A degree, HND, HNC or equivalent relevant construction or project management qualification.
·SMSTS.
·CSCS, with manager-level accreditation preferred.
·A full UK driving licence.
·Competence using Microsoft Excel and Word.
·The flexibility to work days and nights, travel across Scotland and work away when projects require it.
Salary and package
For this Site Manager position, you will receive a salary of up to £55,000, dependent on experience, alongside a benefits package that includes a company van, IT equipment, mobile phone, generous holiday allowance, pension scheme and Group Income Protection.
