The role also provides a proactive customer engagement function, acting as a key interface between the service, stakeholders, and the public. The post supports the Council’s ability to defend third party claims through accurate inspection records and timely defect identification and resolution.  Highway Safety Inspections Undertake planned, cyclical, and ad hoc road safety inspections of the highway network, including carriageways, footways, and associated assets. Identify, risk assess, and categorise defects in accordance with policy and national codes of practice. Raise works orders and ensure defects are progressed within agreed timescales. Maintain accurate inspection records to support statutory defence (Section 58 and liability claims). Undertake follow-up inspections and quality checks on completed works.
