Highway Maintenance Engineer

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Highway Maintenance Engineer to come and join a busy client in the Manchester area on an initial 6 month contract basis.

The main duties of the experienced Highway Maintenance Engineer are:

• Manage and support highway maintenance programmes.
• Inspect and assess carriageways, footways, drainage and other highway assets.
• Investigate highway defects and identify appropriate remedial works.
• Prepare technical specifications, reports, estimates and schedules.
• Monitor contractors and ensure works are delivered safely and to specification.
• Carry out site inspections and quality checks.
• Provide technical advice on highway maintenance and safety.
• Manage customer and stakeholder enquiries.
• Support contract administration and budget monitoring.
• Ensure works comply with relevant legislation, standards and procedures.

The experienced Highway Maintenance Engineer will have:

• Experience in highway maintenance or highway engineering.
• HNC/HND/Degree in Civil Engineering, Highway Engineering or a related discipline.
• Good knowledge of highway maintenance standards and legislation.
• Experience inspecting highways and managing defects.
• Experience working with contractors and delivering maintenance schemes.
• Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Full UK driving licence.
