Highly Specialist Women & Children’s Pharmacist

Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Senior Pharmacist to join the Women and Children’s Directorate. This brand new post supports service expansion and provides a highly specialist clinical pharmacy service to ensure high quality, safe, effective, legal and accurate use of medicines within the Women and Children’s specialty. The Senior Pharmacist will maintain a regular clinical commitment to both women and paediatric wards (prescribing and neonatal experience would be desirable) and will deputise for the Lead Directorate Pharmacist when required.Responsibilities
Provide a highly specialist clinical pharmacy service within the Women and Children’s Directorate focusing on safe, effective and legally compliant use of medicines.Maintain regular clinical commitment to women and paediatric wards; provide information support for division and specialist pharmacists; deputise for the Lead Directorate Pharmacist when required.Participate in other areas of clinical pharmacy practice to ensure a broad base of pharmaceutical knowledge.Participate in weekend/public holidays and on-call rotas and assist the department in the production of ward and on-call rotas.Participate in the operational management rota.Liaise with other clinical pharmacists to ensure efficient transfer of drug-related care.Be aware of and apply relevant legislation (e.g., HandSA, WA, COSHH, Medicines Act, GMP).Practice at all times in accordance with the Code of Ethics of the General Pharmaceutical Council.Relationships and supervision
Liaises with: Patients; Pharmacy Staff; WandC Directorate staff; Finance; Human Resources; external personnel within the WandC field; external personnel with whom the Trust has an SLA.Supervises: Specialist Pharmacists WandC; Rotational resident pharmacists; Pre-registration pharmacists and other junior staff.Context and organisation
