We are looking for a clinical psychologist who is passionate about working with children and young people with neurodevelopmental difficulties to come and work in the socially and ethnically diverse borough of Tower Hamlets. Tower Hamlets CAMHS is a friendly, thriving and innovative service; ELFT has a strong ethos of Quality Improvement, and we are keen to continually develop our service.The service includes professionals from various disciplines including psychiatry, nursing, social workers, psychology, occupational therapy, psychotherapy and family therapy, who come together to provide high quality holistic care for young people and their families.Main duties of the job

This is a community-based post, located within the Neurodevelopmental Team in Tower Hamlets CAMHS offering flexible, evidence-based episodes of care, assessments and treatments to a wide variety of clinical presentations.The post holder will provide evidence based episodes of care, assessments and treatment to young people with moderate to severe Learning Disability. The post holder will bring clinical psychology knowledge and skills to this team. NDT provide a broad range of evidence-based interventions including an established group programme (supporting behaviour, sleep, and a neuroaffirmative group for YP who have received recent diagnosis of ASC), Positive Behaviour Support, ASC assessment clinic, consultation to CAMHS colleagues and schools, and direct work with children and their families, which the post holder will contribute towards. Education/Qualification/Training

Postgraduate Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) and Registration with HCPCFurther qualifications/ training in specialist skills relevant to post (e.g. ADOS, 3Di, systemic therapy, CBT, Training in Positive Behaviour Support or Applied Behavioural Analysis etc.)Experience

Experience of working in CAMHS and/or experience in Adult Services for Autism/ Learning Disability with clear evidence of transferable skillsExperience of specialist assessments and treatments for LD/ ASD and behaviours that challengeExperience of risk assessment and risk managementExperience of working with children, young people and families in emotional crisisExperience of working with complex networksExperience of outcome measuresKnowledge and experience with working with safeguarding issues and serious mental health problems, including challenging behaviourExperience, skills and flexibility to contribute to and facilitate effective working within a multi-disciplinary team settingExperience/knowledge of working in a multi-ethnic community and of working with interpretersExperience of group workExperience of quality improvement and innovative projectsSupervision training and/or experience of supervising othersKnowledge and Skills

Specialist clinical skills within specific therapeutic modalities, in particular, Positive Behaviour Support intervention, behavioural/functional analysisEvidence of highly specialist clinical skills and knowledge in working with children/young people and/or adults with moderate to severe learning disabilitySkilled in emergency and crisis assessmentsAbility to multi-task, prioritise and work flexibly according to needExcellent verbal and written communication skills; at an age appropriate level, complex, highly technical and /or clinically sensitive information to children, adolescents, their families, carers and professionals within and outside the NHSAble to work effectively across organisational boundariesSkills in supervising and facilitating the development of skills in others (e.g. through consultation or training)A high degree of self-awareness and an ability to reflect on personal and professional attitudes and accept feedbackKnowledge of current guidelines and recent developments in evidence based assessments and interventions for children and young people with mental health problems/disorders (including young people with moderate to severe Learning Disability, presentations of behaviours of concern, assessment of co-morbid presentations)Evidence of continuing professional development as required by professional guidelinesKnowledge, understanding and experience with diverse racial, ethnic and cultural backgrounds and families with a high level of deprivationOther
