Higher Level Teaching Assistant

HLTA or Level 3 Teaching Assistant, Autism Provision, Leicester, Full-Time, Until Christmas A school in Leicester is looking for a new HLTA or Level 3 Teaching Assistant to lead its Internal Alternative Provision for children with autism. The pupils are waiting for specialist school places, and most are non-verbal or pre-verbal. You''d direct a team of five teaching assistants and carry the provision forward, working alongside the person who currently plans and delivers it. The school would rather wait a week or two for the right person than rush, so the start date is flexible. Responsibilities Lead the Internal Alternative Provision as its HLTA Manage yourself and direct a team of five Level 2 teaching assistants Support pupils with complex needs, most of whom are non-verbal or pre-verbal Work alongside the current provision lead and carry their work forward Help the provision settle, as some pupils are currently supported in mainstream classes Requirements HLTA status or a Level 3 Certificate with recent and relevant school based experience A good knowledge of autism Experience supporting children who are non-verbal or pre-verbal Confidence directing and managing other adults A genuine preference for SEN work over mainstream Patience and warmth with children who have complex needs What''s on offer Full-time, initially until Christmas, with the possibility of continuing if it''s the right fit A team of five teaching assistants already in place Ongoing support from a ..... full job details .....
