An exciting opportunity is available for a qualified Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a lively primary school in Croydon. Long Term Futures, is working with a forward-thinking school that aims to create an inspiring and supportive learning environment. We are looking for a skilled professional who can make a significant difference to pupil progress and contribute to the whole school.



The Position: Supporting Teaching and Learning

This is a key full-time role within a primary school rated "Good". As an HLTA, you will be vital in supporting classroom teaching, leading sessions, and providing cover to ensure lessons continue without disruption. This is a long-term position with a strong possibility of becoming a permanent role, allowing you to become a valued member of the school community. You will be directly involved in maintaining the school''s high standards and enriching the learning experience for pupils across different year groups.



Your Responsibilities: Fostering Pupil Development

  • Delivering planned lessons and managing classroom activities, providing cover for teacher absence and PPA (Planning, Preparation and Assessment) time.

  • Leading targeted interventions for small groups or individual pupils, focusing on subjects like literacy and numeracy or specific learning needs.

  • Tracking pupil progress, providing feedback to class teachers, and helping with ongoing assessments.

  • Assisting with curriculum planning, including creating and adjusting learning resources to meet different pupil needs.

  • Promoting positive behaviour and creating a safe, stimulating, and well-managed learning space.

  • Working closely with teaching staff, the SENCo, and other support colleagues to ensure a joined-up approach to education.

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) qualification is essential.

  • Significant experience as an HLTA or a highly experienced Senior Teaching Assistant in a primary school setting.

  • A proven ability to use effective classroom management techniques and the confidence to lead lessons on your own.

  • A strong understanding of the primary national curriculum and the ability to adapt teaching methods.

  • The capacity to plan and deliver engaging educational activities with minimal supervision.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, necessary for working with the entire school community.

  • A current enhanced DBS check, or the willingness to apply for one.
