Higher Level Teaching Assistant

Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) - Caerphilly Primary School
Start Date: After February Half Term

We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Caerphilly. This role is ideal for a Level 4 or 5 qualified Teaching Assistant who is confident supporting learning across the school and covering PPA time when required.

You will work both as a classroom Teaching Assistant and step into a HLTA role to lead learning in the absence of the class teacher across both KS1 and KS2.

Requirements:

• Level 4 or Level 5 Teaching Assistant qualification
• Experience working within a primary school setting
• Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)
• Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)
• Strong classroom management and communication skills
• Flexibility and confidence to work across different classes

As a Teaching Assistant (TA):

• Support pupils'' learning in line with the teacher''s planning
• Work with individuals and small groups to reinforce learning
• Assist with classroom organisation and preparation of resources
• Provide support for pupils with additional learning needs
• Promote positive behaviour and engagement
• Help monitor and record pupil progress

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA):

• Deliver planned lessons during PPA cover across different classes
• Manage the classroom independently in the teacher''s absence
• Adapt lesson plans to meet the needs of all learners
• Assess, record, and report on pupil progress during cover sessions
• Support curriculum delivery across a range of subjects and key stages
• Provide feedback to teachers on pupil performance and behaviour
