Location:-Leicestershire
Hours:-37 hours per week
Pay Rate:23.54 PAYE per hour |30.00 Umbrella per hour (inc Holiday)
Contract:-Temporary

Service Care Solutions-are currently recruiting for an experienced-HGV Plant Mechanic / Light & Heavy Vehicle Technician-on behalf of a local authority within their Environment and Transport department.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled mechanic to join a busy Transport Operations team, maintaining and repairing a diverse fleet of vehicles and plant equipment.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, maintenance, inspections, and repairs on light and heavy vehicles, plant, and passenger transport vehicles
• Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults using appropriate diagnostic equipment
• Conduct MOT preparation and testing in line with DVSA standards
• Recover defective or damaged vehicles when required
• Complete accurate records including worksheets, inspection reports, and compliance documentation
• Ensure all work is completed to high safety and quality standards
• Support apprentices and contribute to team development
• Maintain tools and equipment in a safe and serviceable condition

Essential Requirements

• City & Guilds qualification in Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent)
• Proven experience working in a fleet workshop or garage environment
• Strong knowledge of HGVs, light vehicles, and/or plant machinery
• Ability to diagnose faults and carry out repairs independently
• Full UK driving licence
• Understanding of current Health & Safety legislation

Desirable Skills & Qualifications

• MOT Tester Licence
• HGV Licence (Category C or C+E) or willingness to obtain
• Experience with plant equipment repairs
• IT literacy (e.g. Microsoft Office)
• Continuous professional development and relevant certifications

• Effective communication and teamwork skills

Additional Information

• Occasional out-of-hours work may be required
• Participation in standby rota may be necessary
