Contract Duration: 3+ Months
Working Hours: Mon – Fri, 09:00 – 17:00, 37 Hours per week
Pay Rate: £ 14.41 per hour

Responsibilities

• Drive heavy goods vehicles for refuse collection and recycling, including skip loaders.
• Supervise a team of labourers and other drivers during operations.
• Operate both automatic and manual refuse collection and recycling equipment.
• Move and empty wheeled bins, food waste caddies, and refuse sacks in all weather conditions.
• Provide domestic, food, bulky item, and trade waste collection services.
• Efficiently collect, sort, and load various recyclable items such as newspapers, magazines, glass, cans, and textiles.
• Distribute leaflets and deliver wheeled bins, storage boxes, and sacks to households.
• Maintain high levels of productivity and engage with the public in a professional and courteous manner.
• Work overtime as needed to complete collection rounds.
• Promote the service actively, including communication with householders.
• Assist with additional cleansing duties and transfer station tasks when necessary.
• Utilize in-cab technology effectively.
• Work on bank holidays, except for Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year's Day, and continue until round completion.
• Ensure the cleanliness and appearance of vehicles and equipment are maintained to a high standard.
• Conduct daily driver safety checks on vehicles and report any defects to Fleet Management Services promptly.
• Adhere to health and safety legislation and regulations, including using reversing assistants.
• Comply with all relevant driving legislation, including the use of tachographs.

Person Specification

• Strong driving skills with experience in operating heavy goods vehicles.
• Ability to supervise and lead a team effectively.
• Proficient in operating refuse collection and recycling equipment.
• Physically fit to handle manual tasks in varying weather conditions.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with the public and promoting services.
• Flexible to work overtime and on bank holidays as required.
• Detail-oriented to maintain vehicle cleanliness and perform safety checks.
• Knowledgeable of health and safety regulations and driving legislation.
• Proficiency with in-cab technology and equipment.
