About the Role

Pertemps Warrington is recruiting an HGV Technician for a permanent, full-time role in Warrington, with a salary of £20.00 to £23.00 per hour depending on experience. In this position, you will maintain a mixed fleet of HGVs and trailers, performing routine servicing, inspections, and scheduled maintenance. Responsibilities include diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults, preparing vehicles for MOT inspections to DVSA standards, and completing repairs on brakes, suspension, and steering. The role demands strong diagnostic abilities, a sound understanding of vehicle compliance, and meticulous record-keeping. You will work independently and as part of a professional team, ensuring all vehicles operate safely and reliably.

As an HGV Technician, you'll be working on a mixed fleet of HGVs and trailers, ensuring vehicles are maintained to the highest standards of safety, compliance, and reliability.

Duties of an HGV Technician:

Carry out routine servicing, inspections, and scheduled maintenance.
Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults.
Prepare vehicles for MOT inspections in line with DVSA standards.
Complete repairs including brakes, suspension, steering, and other general maintenance.
Accurately complete job cards and maintenance documentation.
Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
Maintain a clean and organised working environment.

Requirements of an HGV Technician

Previous experience as an HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic, or Commercial Vehicle Technician.
Strong mechanical and electrical diagnostic skills.
Good understanding of DVSA standards and compliance requirements.
NVQ Level 3 City & Guilds would be desirable
A positive attitude and strong attention to detail.
Full UK Driving licence
HGV licence is desirable but not essential.

Hours of work

Week 1 – Monday to Friday 06:00 – 14:00
Week 2 – Monday to Thursday 14:00 – 22:00 & Friday 14:00 – 20:00
Alternative Saturdays 06:00 – 12:00 (paid at time and a half)
