We are recruiting on behalf of a reputable, family-run automotive business based in Askam-in-Furness, Cumbria, for the position of HGV Technician. The role of HGV Technician involves maintaining and repairing heavy goods vehicles to ensure safety, compliance, and operational efficiency.

Duties of the HGV Technician:
  • Conduct routine maintenance inspections on HGVs, identifying faults and defects
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues, performing necessary repairs
  • Service vehicles and carry out preventative maintenance in line with manufacturer guidelines
  • Prepare vehicles for MOTs in accordance with DVSA standards
  • Record work completed, parts used, and diagnostic information accurately
  • Perform road tests to verify repair success
  • Adhere to health and safety standards within the workshop
  • Support team members and assist with workshop tasks as needed
  • Communicate repair findings clearly to customers, ensuring excellent customer service
Requirements of the HGV Technician:
  • Proven experience as an HGV Technician or similar heavy vehicle repair role
  • Strong knowledge of HGV systems, components, and repair techniques
  • NVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair or equivalent qualification
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently under pressure
  • Flexibility and a proactive approach to work
  • Strong commitment to safety and quality standards
