We are currently recruiting for an experienced HGV Technician to join a busy local authority workshop in Derby on a temp-to-perm basis. This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a skilled team responsible for maintaining a diverse fleet of HGVs, commercial vehicles and specialist plant equipment, ensuring they remain safe, compliant and roadworthy. Location: Stores Road, Derby Salary: 37,280 per annum Hours: 37 hours per week (alternating early and late shifts) Contract: Temp to Perm Start: ASAP The Role: As an HGV Technician, you will carry out servicing, inspections, maintenance and repairs on a range of heavy goods vehicles and plant equipment. You''ll diagnose faults, complete repairs to the highest standards and help keep the fleet operating efficiently. Key Responsibilities: Carry out routine servicing, maintenance and repairs on HGVs, commercial vehicles and plant equipment. Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic faults using specialist diagnostic equipment. Ensure all work complies with DVSA/VOSA roadworthiness standards and Operator Licence requirements. Respond to vehicle and plant breakdowns, carrying out emergency roadside repairs when required. Complete service sheets, inspection reports and maintenance records accurately. Assist with training apprentices and new members of staff.
