HGV TECHNICIAN

Location: Gillingham
Salary: -40,000 - -45,000pa
Hours: Monday to Friday - Days

KHR Recruitment Specialists are working with a well-established transport and logistics business based in Gillingham, who are looking for an experienced HGV Technician to join their in-house workshop team.

You''ll be responsible for the servicing, repair and maintenance of a fleet of DAF and Mercedes HGVs, ensuring vehicles are safe, compliant and kept to a high standard.

Key responsibilities:

- Carrying out routine servicing and preventative maintenance
- Completing PMI (Preventative Maintenance Inspection) work
- Diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults
- Carrying out mechanical repairs and component replacements
- Electrical fault finding, repairs and diagnostics
- Working on braking, suspension, steering and transmission systems
- Carrying out inspections and identifying potential faults
- Maintaining and repairing vehicle engines and associated components
- Using diagnostic equipment to identify and rectify faults
- Preparing vehicles for MOT and ensuring roadworthiness
- Maintaining accurate maintenance and repair records
- Ensuring all work is completed safely and in line with company procedures

Candidate Profile

- NVQ Level 3 in HGV Maintenance & Servicing/Repair or equivalent
- Previous experience as an HGV Technician or Mechanic
- Strong mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills
- Experience servicing and maintaining HGVs
- Experience carrying out PMI work
- Experience working on DAF and/or Mercedes vehicles would be advantageous
- A proactive approach and strong attention to detail
- The ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A Class 1 or Class 2 HGV licence would be beneficial but is not essential
