HGV Technician - Reading
Salary: up to 50,000 per annum, depending on experience and shift pattern
Overtime: Paid at time and a half
Working hours: Flexible working patterns considered for the right candidate
We are recruiting a qualified HGV Technician to join a commercial vehicle workshop in Reading. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced technician looking for ongoing training, career progression and a competitive package.
You will be responsible for servicing, maintaining and repairing heavy goods vehicles, ensuring they remain safe, compliant and ready for the road.
Key Responsibilities
-Carry out routine servicing, preventative maintenance and safety inspections on HGVs.
-Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic equipment.
-Complete major and minor repairs to a high standard within agreed timescales.
-Identify worn or defective components in line with DVSA standards.
-Undertake wheel alignment and tyre fitting as required.
-Accurately complete job cards, service records and supporting warranty documentation.
-Work closely with the workshop team to diagnose faults and plan repairs.
-Maintain a clean, organised working environment and follow health and safety procedures.
About You
-Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, such as NVQ, City & Guilds or IMI.
-Previous experience as an HGV Technician, HGV Mechanic or HGV Fitter.
-Experience carrying out diagnostic work, servicing and repairs on commercial vehicles.
-A sound understanding of vehicle inspection requirements and DVSA standards.
-A full UK driving licence covering the relevant vehicle classes.
-Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
