Generally working between 5am – 5pm, although start and finish times may vary depending on the location of works.

We are currently recruiting for an HGV Tanker Trainee / Improver to join their Quoted Works & Remedials team.
The main purpose of this HGV Tanker Trainee / Improver role is to work alongside an experienced Lead Tanker Operative, receiving structured on-the-job training and mentoring to develop the skills and knowledge required to become a competent HGV Tanker Operative. You’ll gain hands-on experience across a wide range of drainage works while building your career within a growing business.
In return, our client is offering a salary of £36,750 - £38,792 P/A, depending on experience, with the opportunity to earn up to an additional £10,000 through overtime and bonus.
This role is full-time and permanent. The hours of work are generally between 5:00am - 5:00pm, although these may vary depending on operational requirements.
Responsibilities will include:- Assisting with the safe operation of HGV combination tankers and associated drainage equipment.
- Carrying out tanker extraction, cleaning and waste removal works across foul and surface water systems, pump stations, petrol interceptors, grease traps and catch pits.
- Supporting high-pressure water jetting, line cleaning, descaling and blockage clearance works.
- Working alongside CCTV, drainage, pump and remedial teams during surveys, investigations and repair works.
- Assisting with the preparation of work areas, safe access arrangements, hose handling and equipment checks.
- Completing vehicle, equipment and job documentation, including daily vehicle checks and waste transfer records.
- Following all waste disposal and licensed tipping procedures.
- Attending planned and reactive works, including occasional night work and stay-away projects.
- Maintaining high standards of health & safety, customer service and housekeeping at all times.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Basic knowledge of drainage systems and safe drainage practices.
- Previous drainage experience (around 1-2 years preferred).
- A positive, can-do attitude and willingness to learn.
- Good communication and practical problem-solving skills.
- A strong team player.
- Reliable with excellent attention to detail.
- Flexible to work reactive call-outs, occasional nights and stay-away works.
- Previous experience assisting with HGV tanker or jet-vac operations would be advantageous but is not essential.
